ON THE 2ND THE BULLDOZER BASEBALL TEAM WON THEIR 9TH
CONSECUTIYE GAME BY DEFEATING THE 516TH ENGINEERS WITH A
SCORE OF 17 TO 4.
THE REGIMENTAL COLORS WERE PRESENTED TO THE REGIMENT ON
THE 5TH AT A RETREAT PARADE BY BRIGADIER GENERAL AMOS
THOMAS, COMMANDING GENERAL, CAMP WHITE, OREGON. GENERAL
THOMAS HIGHLY COMMENDED THE REGIMENT FOR ITS WORK AT CAMP
WHITE.
ON THE 7TH, THE REGIMENT’S LAST OFFICIAL DAY BEFORE
DEPARTURE FROM CAMP WHITE TO CAMP STONEMAN, CALIF., AT A
REGIMENTAL FORMATION, THE REGIMENTAL COAT OF ARMS WAS
REMOVED AND PLACED IN STORAGE AND THE REGIMENTAL COLORS AND
COMPANY GUIDONS WERE PLACED UNDER SEAL UNTIL SUCH TIME AS IT
WILL AGAIN BE APPROPRIATE TO DISPLAY THEM. THE REGIMENT WAS
FORMED FACING THE COAT OF ARMS, WHICH WAS PLACED PARALLEL TO
11TH STREET, MIDWAY BETWEEN "B" AND "C" STREETS. THE
REGIMENTAL COMMANDER, COLONEL TROWER, MADE A BRIEF
COMMEMORATIVE ADDRESS, NOTING THE FACT THAT THE THREE SENIOR
NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS OF THE REGIMENT, M/SGTS KUNA,
MEYER AND WANNER, WHO ORIGINALLY PLACED THE PLAQUE IN PLACE,
REMOVED IT. HE ADDED THAT THE PLAQUE HAD HELD ITS POSITION
OF HONOR AS A WITNESS TO THE REGIMENTS GROWTH, TRAINING AND
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND DIRECTED THAT IT BE REMOVED AND STORED
AND THAT THE COLORS AND GUIDONS BE PLACED UNDER SEAL.
ON THE SAME DAY, THE 7TH, THE 353RD ENGINEER (G.S.)
REGIMENT DEPARTED CAMP WHITE AND PROCEEDED TO CAMP STONEMAN.
CALIF. ON TWO TRAINS AT 1700 AND 1900, PER PAR. 7, SO#104,
HQS., CAMP WHITE, OREGON, DATED 4 MAY 1943, FOR A PERMANENT
CHANGE OF STATION.
ON THE 6TH WILLIAM SWIGGETT, 1ST LT. C.E., JOINED THE
REGIMENT FROM THE 398TH ENGINEER REGIMENT, CAMP CLAIBORNE,
LA. AND ON THE 11TH ROBERT D. CUMMINS, WOJG, JOINED THE
REGIMENT FROM ENGINEER SCHOOL, FT. BELVOIR, VA.
