       PLATOON OF H&S COMPANY, COMPANY "F" RECEIVED A PLAQUE FOR

       HAVING QUALIFIED THE LARGEST PERCENTAGE OF THE COMPANY IN

       THE RECORD RIFLE FIRING FROM THE PERIOD 22 JANUARY 1943 THRU

       28 JANUARY 1943. CORPORAL BYRON F. SCOTT WAS PRESENTED WITH

       A PRIZE DONATED BY THE COMMANDING OFFICER, COLONEL WENDELL

       P. TROWER FOR ATTAINING THE HIGHEST SCORE OF ANY MAN IN THE

       REGIMENT DURING THE ABOVE MENTIONED PERIOD OF RECORD FIRING.

         

            THE "SONG OF THE 353RD ENGINEERS" WAS PRESENTED TO THE

       REGIMENT, WORDS HAVING BEEN WRITTEN BY 2ND LT. WILLIAM B.

       STILWELL OF COMPANY "F" AND THE MUSIC COMPOSED BY CHIEF

       WARRANT OFFICER, MILTON L. PERKINS OF THE BAND.

         

            ON THE 28TH COL. KARRICK OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL’S

       DEPARTMENT, WASHINGTON, D.C. ARRIVED TO DETERMINE IF THE

       REGIMENT WAS ADEQUATELY TRAINED FOR OVERSEAS SERVICE.

          

            THE BASKETBALL TEAM DEFEATED THE STATION HOSPITAL ON

       THE 2ND WITH A SCORE OF 22 TO 18 IN ITS LAST GAME.
