TO BE FILED: JERRY BARTA'S LETTER OF 30 JULY 1944

Hi Pal:

How is everything going with you? Boy I sure do miss playing golf with you, Ro. I've been playing every Sunday now for the last month. I played at Timber Trails twice and at the Maywood Course. Boy that Maywood course is really nice. I shot a 95 at Timber Trails. I've got enough golf balls to last me through. What do you do in your spare time? I suppose go to the Canteens. Do you smoke, Ro? I'm working at Sears again this summer. Making myself a little spending money. Well Ro all I got is a half a year at Morton and then I'll be out. If the war is still on and I'm draft bait, I would like to enlist in the Merchant Marines. Now that we haven't got the car it's kinda hard to get around places. Boy the weather has been kinda cool. I'm taking two weeks off in August and hope to play lots of golf.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Your Pal,
Jerry
