TO BE FILED: AUNT-AUNT'S LETTER DTD 10 JULY 1944
"Dearest Roman:
For a week I have been planning to write this to you and have been so busy I could never get the time. You see my boss went on his vacation and another girl was already on hers, and then because it was the 4th of July, and bound to be very busy, he let another girl have 5-6-7-8 off. By that time with true Machiavellian something or another he must have said to himself "Well that must be as hard as anyone could make a week to live through". But he forgot that he had promised Betty that when her boy came in from Steven's Point for a few days, he so kindly let her come in at 5:30 P.M. instead of 3. Of course as he said "It was only 2½ hrs a day". Which are usually very busy.
Well after a week of that plus other inconveniences I was dead tired. Believe it?
Why do I write of this though to you. Well its news even though hum drum. Your "girl friend" next to me is laboriously writing to you. Do her letters annoy you? If they do I'll throw them in the river. But she is so sweet about wanting to write and believe me half of her epistles are never mailed.
I hope you are not terribly over worked there in your new place and that it is as good as can be in that quarter of the world. Was so glad to hear you got your dollar from me. Here's another so have some cokes on me. I got your last letter in seven days. Some service.
Well Anita is still in her apt on Center St. If God wills, she will get into her own home in Sept some time.
