TO BE FILED: UNCLE JACK'S LETTER DTD 7/19/44.

"Dear Roman:

About a week or so ago, I read your account of how business and a private home would look like, if it was run on the order of the Army. I got many chuckles out of that write up. Also, when you kid us about the dogs, such as "tickle under left ear to calm down" and stuff like that there.

Thank you for your beautiful birthday greetings. I received it in plenty of time. Of course, Rosana also celebrated her 5th anniversary the same day. I did not go to the birthday party, but I did send her a dress, which Aunty Clara took over there on 50th Ave.

The Cubs, despite their low standing, still continue to draw big crowds to the games. That must be something for the psychologists to figure out. The league leading St Louis Browns haven't drawn half as many customers as the Cubs have. Those damn Yankees are again starting to climb closer to the top. There ought to be a law against that. It's monopoly, I say.

I bought a suit about a month ago (with 2 pants) but I haven't had occasion to wear it yet. The weather has been on the summer side, so I've only been wearing the sports outfit. Mostly only the shirt and pants.

With best wishes for your good health and lots of good luck.

Sincerely yours,

Uncle Jack"
