My very dearest Marion,

Wednesday

Thank you for the V-mail letter which I first received today although you mailed it on the 20th of June. You see it was addressed "139rd" instead of "1393rd" and was traveling back and forth looking for me.

Congratulations on your new job. That was the last job I had at Rathborne, remember, working with Eddie Dietrick and Betty Caplis. How do you like it? I found it rather interesting work.

No, Marion, I have not been hitched nor have I promised to hitch since being in the Army. Personally, I do not believe in whites and blacks mixing and that is about the only kind of girl friend a fellow could have on these islands out here in the Pacific. Well, now how about you? Has any young fellow been slipping a ring on your finger?

Another "No" and that is about Sgt Zizzo. I do not know of any fellow by that name in this battalion. There is a fellow, I believe, in either B or C company who has a name Hazy or Tazi. Yes, there is a fellow in C company with the name of Hazy and another fellow in B company with the name of Yzzi. Both of them are sergeants, if I remember correctly. Are either of them the fellow that wrote to you? Is he from Berwyn? Maybe I ought to ask the fellow in B company if he knows you, eh? But then it might be embarrassing if he is the wrong fellow, he will think I'm tetched.

We don't get the Good Housekeeping Magazine so I'm afraid I won't be able to see your niece's picture. Send it to me so I can see it for myself. Okay?

How are things going back in Berwyn these days? Do you ever hear anything of Ray Janota? Is Gloria still working in Lenke's? Is your brother still in the Navy? Do you ever happen to see my boyfriend, Jerry, around Lenke's? That Romeo is liable to turn up with a girlfriend anywhere in Cicero, Berwyn, Oak Park. Riverside etcetera.

Please write before 20 June 1945 for I'll be waiting for an answer.

Love and Kisses,
Ro
