TO BE FILED: BOB BOYER'S LETTER OF MAY 19, 1944
"Dear Grandfather:
It sure is swell an old man like you out there fighting the Japanese. I guess the Army doesn't know you're really 78 years old, do they? Well you can bet I'll never tell them.
I thought I'd send you this letter instead of V-mail because it's more personal, don't you think? Since there's nothing important in it, it doesn't matter if it's a little late.
We had a big crack-up here at the Naval Air Station, N. J. Eleven men were killed. Their blimp hit one of the hangars. Well, grandpap, take it easy --- and forget about that wooden leg of yours. I guess I'll be signing off now. Be seeing you.
Your Grandson
Bob"
