The last letter was a double V-Mail dated June 17.

Dear Aunty Clara:

Rather sloppy, eh, that printing and this writing? I received 3 more letters from you today (V-Mail dated June 4, 5 & 7). You mention that even a note saying "I'm alright but busy" would be sufficient; so you are receiving the same. The entire regiment - Company Clerks included - were out on an emergency project today of a manual nature. It's a funny thing but when I work, physically, I eat very little just the desert and the beverage. Doing my regular work like a payroll roster, etc, I have a tremendous appetite. I never noticed that before this. I'll tell you more about it when I get the typewriter keys under my fingers again.

One thing was humorous, though, everyone would comment "What's this, the Company Clerk actually working?" They think that an office job implies no work, but wearing out the seat of one's trousers. How wrong they are, eh?
