29 December 1942
Camp White, Oregon

Dear Aunty Clara:

My work is piled higher than ever and I may work tonight but doubt it.

This note is for just in case. I received a letter from Bob Garrett but he makes no mention of Richard.

I received a Christmas card from Mr. Mashos with a dollar in it.

The latest rumor has it that we are going to Dayton, Ohio. 250 miles from Chicago.

It is definite that by January 15th we will be in a new camp. The train schedules are already in the hands of the companies.

I also found out why we have to move. The space we use belongs to the Ninth Corps Area and since we were transferred to Service of Supply we must clear out and go to an S. O. S. camp.

I ate the cookies but please I don't want any more of the coconut variety. They make me sick. I don't know whether it is because I eat a dozen and a half at one sitting (last night before bed and this noon before chow) or because I may be allergic to them. They are swell while I am eating them, however.

Well, the bugle blew that tells us to go back to work so that is all.

So long,
