         TYPHOON IN VICINITY OF OKINAWA. (WHAT A POUNDING!)

         

         19TH - ARRIVED SASEBO HARBOR, KYUSHU, JAPAN AT 1800 THIS

         DATE.

         

         22ND - UNIT DISEMBARKED AT SASEBO AT 1400 FROM LST 587 AND

         PROCEEDED BY CONVOY TO FUKUOKA, KYUSHU, JAPAN. ARRIVING AT

         2230.  UNIT BIVUOACKED AT THE HAKATA NAVAL AIR STATION.

         ADVANCE ECHELON OF SIX OFFICERS JOINED THE UNIT.

         

         23RD - CAPTAIN ERNEST M NEWBOLD RELIEVED DETACHED SERVICE

         THIS HEADQUARTERS AND RETURNED TO PARENT UNIT.
