SUBJECT:  Commendation.

TO:       Commanding Officer
          431st Engineer Dump Truck Company
          APO #709



     1.  I desire to commend the 431st Engineer Dump Truck Company for
the excellent performance of their assigned tasks during the period they
have been attached to the Group.

     2.  Of special significance was the gravelling of the Division
Bivouac Area which involved the hauling of some 45,000 yards of gravel
under extremely adverse conditions.  The severe dead line imposed on
the project necessitated long hours of work and thoroughly tried the
stamina of your organization.

     3.  The efficiency with which the organization functions and the
excellence of the maintenance of the vehicles is most creditable.

     4.  It is my sincere wish that on other missions which may be as-
signed to the Group that the 431st Engineer Dump Truck Company may again
serve with us.
