SUBJECT:  Commendation.

TO:       Commanding Officer.
          353d Engineer Construction Battalion,
          APO #709.



     1.  I desire to commend the 353d Engineer Construction Battalion
for the excellent performance of their assigned tasks from the period
of their activation, 1 April 1944, to 20 April 1945.

     2.  Although very few of the units of the battalion have come
under the direct operational control of this headquarters during this
period, reports from the commanders of the various Island Bases on
which they have served indicate that the work has been performed to
the same high standard set by the old Regiment.

     3.  I need scarcely add that I have a very deep affection for the
battalion and sincerely hope that it may join us on our future tasks.
